About
What this blog is about
In short, this blog is about the intersection of Financial Independence (FI) and charitable giving.
There are a lot of FIRE blogs, channels, podcasts, and content out there, but it seems like NOBODY talks about charitable giving.
This is a blog for people who are pursuing FI but who also care deeply about giving back.
$1,000,000 of Giving
My goal is to give away $1,000,000 to nonprofits by age 45.
In 2024, I reached FI at the age of 36 and live like a normal person, but still earn quite a high income from a business I started in 2016. Since any additional savings don’t improve my life at this point, I have a lot of ability to give significantly and invest in bettering my community.
Why am I writing this?
The FIRE movement has grown significantly over the last decade. I myself started pursuing FI back in the early 2010s when I started my corporate job after college. I started a business in 2016 that’s become quite successful and in 2024, I reached FI. All along the way, since 2010, I gave consistently to non-profits. I saw it as a way to give back and invest in addressing the needs in my community and abroad.
Now that I’m financially independent, I have a lot more financial capacity to give to nonprofits to have a bigger impact.
Over the next 10+ years, there will be more people who reach financial independence who have more than enough and are wondering what to do with their increasingly large investment funds.
I want to show how giving back through philanthropy and getting involved can be a great investment to improve our communities and the world as well as a way to get more personal fulfillment in life.
